Carry On Band

“Yesterday’s Music Today”

The Band

The Carry On band was the headliner at many Asian American dances in Southern California in the 1970s. The band first played together as The Prophets, another leading Asian American rock band from the 1960s. Carry On and The Prophets shared billing with other popular Asian American bands of that era, including The Chosen Few, Somethin' Else, and Free Flight. With the breakup of The Prophets in 1970, the core members of the band decided to form a new group to "carry on."

Thus, the new band was named and given its mission. Carry On would continue bringing a unique brand of live music featuring multiple vocalists and large, full-sounding rhythm and horn sections.

It was this particular make up of musicians that allowed the group to perform music of that era such as Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, War, and Tower of Power. The band performed in venues spanning Southern California, San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Fresno, and Phoenix. The group became the house band at Japanese Village And Deer Park in Buena Park, performing every Friday and Saturday night throughout the summer.

After 30 years of inactivity, the band recently reunited at the passing away of some of its original members. Now, given a rare second chance, the surviving members are grateful to have an opportunity to once again play music together. We want to thank all of you out there for remembering Carry On. Without you, our recent performances would not have been possible.

From the entire band, thank you!!

It has been truly "Magical"
